Magnolia

I like doing the same motive in different techniques. This is a magnolia in graphite and water color. I'm nore sure the water color is quite done yet, it might need some finishing touches.

Any feedback is welcome.

  1. Hi Johanna.
    I like your work very much.
    The Magnolia tree is a favorite of mine.

    Your first work, so graceful, nostalgic,
    and Zen-like. The interdependency of flower
    and branch;

    those nascent little buds...

    Very pretty colors in your second work.
    Those petals. The interplay
    of light,and darkness all add to
    the lovely affect of your work.

    Cheers.

  3. Lovely! Both are very nice, it is hard to pick one over the other, but I guess the watercolor is my favorite.

  10. I am so glad I came to your blog. These are great representations for the magnolia. The detail in the pencil sketch is amazing. You captured the swelling buds and imperfections in the twigs perfectly. The watercolor has lovely shading, too. Glad you came back to creating, you have a gift. Thanks for sharing it with us.
